Embedded Firmware Support, Medical Device Hardware
Remote
Contract
Remote, with the ability to work East Coast hours
Lura Health is an early-stage medical device company developing a non-invasive remote patient
monitoring tool: a miniature, battery-powered sensor worn in the mouth that continuously
measures analytes in saliva and transmits data via Bluetooth Low Energy. We are seeking
firmware support to rapidly bring our MVP to life—a clinical pilot application that calibrates and
reads sensors, transmits data over BLE, and runs efficiently on a micro-battery.
What You Will Do:
- Develop firmware for a Silicon Labs BLE SoC, covering power management, data
buffering, transmission protocols, and wireless topology - Build a robust, end-to-end data pipeline from sensor → mobile application → clinical
practitioner, suitable for internal trials and first pilot customer - Enable reliable internal clinical testing with 12–18+ hours wear time between battery
charges, robust OTA DFU, and well-documented tradeoffs in runtime vs performance - Work closely with the mobile developer and electrical engineer to identify and resolve
bottlenecks across hardware, firmware, software, and system integration
We are open to working with an individual contractor, a small consulting group, or exploring a
contract-to-hire path. The ideal partner is self-directed, thrives on tackling unknown unknowns,
and brings proven experience launching production embedded code for battery-powered
devices. Required experience includes power management, data management, ADCs, DMAs,
BLE (Silicon Labs Gecko Series 2 preferred), and I2C. Proficiency with embedded hardware is
strongly preferred. Medical device experience preferred, but not required. Engagement needs to
begin ASAP—more details will be shared following NDA.
Where We Work
This partnership is primarily remote, with frequent collaboration with the electrical engineering
team based in Brooklyn, NY. Eastern time and the ability to travel to NY/NJ for in-person
troubleshooting is strongly preferred.
